Adult education
Aere Tai offers a range of adult education courses including ESOL (English as a second language), employment skills and courses for Pasifika language and culture. Adult Education is Pacific-focused and taught by Pacific tutors with emphasis on culture and Pacific values.
National Certificate in Employment Skills
This course includes modules on producing a CV, reading texts, basic writing skills, working with numbers, communicating with people from other cultures, care and timelines, and keyboard skills.
ESOL life skills
ESOL life skills focuses on three facets of language. Social language involves using English to communicate in social settings, while academic language uses English to achieve academically in other content areas, and cultural language uses English in socially and culturally appropriate ways. ESOL modules include basic literacy, reading, writing, listening, speaking skills application and comprehension.
Taranaki Pasifika Adult Community Education – TPACE
The TPACE course includes modules on Pasifika language, cultural dance, cooking, traditional weaving and basic computer skills. Courses can be personalised to suit individual needs.
